Ecclesiastes 9:1-6 ~ The Application of Wisdom to Injustice

Solomon says, “The righteous and their works, they are in the hand of God.” He directs our steps. It is His sovereignty; it is His providence that leads and guides us. Enjoy and rejoice in that relationship, rejoice in that over your life, rather than fretting and worrying about life working out for you, because it won’t.

Hebrews 13:1-6

The manner of life that we live in response to Christ is with the promise that He is never going to leave us nor not ever forsake us. He will always be with us. It is living in a constant state of confidence and boldness (not arrogance) that God is with me and He is never going to fail me.

Joshua Chapter 1 ~ What it Takes to Walk with the Lord

Constantly meditating on God’s Word keeps our mind focused on the Lord because when our mind gets focused on other things we get drawn away by temptation. What did it take to walk with the Lord? Meditate. Keep your mind focused on the Lord through His Word day and night. But notice also, the meditation is in order to do it. It’s not just listening, it’s not just reading, it’s doing the Word of God.

Matthew 14:22-36 Part 2 ~ The Lesson of Peter Walking on the Water

Now, there are people who teach from these texts that if Peter had enough faith, he would not have sunk into the waves. What they’re really saying is that if Peter had enough faith, he would have no need to call to Jesus. He wouldn’t need the Lord. Peter says, ‘Lord save me!’ That is what the Lord is there for. It exhibits the weakness of man. It exhibits the faithfulness of God.

Ephesians 2:13-14 ~ Jesus is our Peace

In the human realm, as we live out life and circumstances become very disturbing for us – psychologically, emotionally, physically – we’re looking for an infusion of some kind of peace, tranquility in the area that is all worked up and messed up and worried and afraid.  But it is being spiritually minded – it is in the spirit – that we experience life and peace.  The life of Christ and the peace of Christ.

Ephesians 6:6-8 ~ The Spiritual Perceptions for Serving Christ

These are not psychological principles. It’s a relationship with Christ. Have the correct perception here, because you are not serving men by obeying your master, you are serving Christ. It’s not me taking my orders from the Lord and going over here and having this human relationship. No, this is between me and the Lord. I’m serving the Lord; I’m not serving people.

Acts 20:17-24

I’m going to suffer at the hands of people things that I never would have suffered had I not received Christ. Well, that is not very inviting except for the fact that loving the Lord and receiving the Lord is responding to what He did for me. He suffered at the hands of sinners for me and now He asks me to follow Him suffering at the hands of sinners.

Sermon ~ The Most Important Spiritual Principle of the Christian Faith

You see, when God gives the commission, God fulfills the commission. This is His work, not ours. Nowhere did God commission us, in our human effort, to do His work for Him.

Sermon ~ Satan’s Only Weapon

Peter is talking to Christians. The devil is walking around and his only weapon against a believer in Christ is to find something to occupy the attention of the mind and take that believer away from Christ. Not spiritually, not as far as salvation goes, but to take one’s attention away from Christ.

Romans 9:10-13 ~ Jacob I Loved, Esau I Hated

God chooses the people who are the opposite of what mankind would choose because God can work the same through anybody He chooses. It is going to come out the same because God is doing it.

Hebrews 13:10-17

Therefore, we should lift up our sacrifice, that is, the praise of our lips. We don’t bring animals, or beads, or physical tangible objects, to present to the Lord. We offer to Him the praises of our lips. That is our sacrifice. Confessing, notice the participle, to the name of Jesus. I belong to Jesus Christ, I confess to His name, and I identify with Him.

John 3:1-6

For people to see the kingdom of God, they must be born from above, they must experience a spiritual birth. Jesus is pointing to a heavenly, spiritual birth. He was saying to Nicodemus, “You’ve had a physical birth, now you need a spiritual birth.” Isn’t that interesting that the person in the highest religious order that a person can be in, can’t make it. They can’t even see and participate with the kingdom of God unless they experience a spiritual birth. A person is not saved until they have experienced a spiritual birth.

Hebrews 4:11-13

We can hear God’s Word and we can believe God’s Word, but we can also refuse to allow God’s Word to affect our hearts. We can cut it off at the head.  That is, we could intellectually and mentally get to know it and yet refuse to be persuaded. The Word of God is a very, very powerful thing and it is applied by the Spirit of God through persuasion.  Without surrendering to that persuasion we are lost.

Romans 6:12-14 ~ Sin Shall Not Have Dominion Over You

The person who doesn’t know the Lord, who is not born of the Spirit of God, who has never been saved, that person can say, “The devil made me do it.”  A Christian can’t say that.  When a believer sins, we sin because we want to.  The Lord has delivered us from the sin dominating our lives.
