Isaiah 30:1 & Joshua Chapter 9

We can be deceived by circumstances.  We make decisions sometimes based on a deception that has been presented to us because, unfortunately, Satan opens doors too. And God doesn’t send messages from heaven, He is not an information booth. But He also doesn’t leave us in a maze of circumstances trying to figure out what He wants us to do. What God wants me to do is what He does. I am to be a follower of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 4:10-13 ~ God’s Will for Every Believer in Every Situation Part 5

The word content in Greek means to be self-contained, not self-sufficient but self-contained. Paul realized that everything he needed for life resided within, where Christ dwelt. He had no need of anything outside of himself. He is equally content in every circumstance; for he has learned the mystery of contentment. Furthermore, He tells us we must be initiated; we must go through the school of learning if we are to have the mysteries of contentment worked out in our lives.

Philippians 4:8-9 ~ God’s Will for Every Believer in Every Situation Part 4

No matter what it is, everything has an influence on our life and participates in making us who we are. The influence on the mind is who we are, whether it is over a long period of time or just in the moment. As a person thinks so is he. That is why it is important to not allow anything come into the mind that will occupy the attention – taking it away from Christ – and become the expression of your life.

Philippians 4:6-7 ~ God’s Will for Every Believer in Every Situation Part 3

It is an awareness that I make a decision for change in my life, but I can’t change it. I desire it, but I can’t do anything about it. So I call out to the Lord. He’s the One that has to save me. And after He saves me it’s the same. I make decisions to do what is right; but it is up to His Spirit to empower me. It is up to His Spirit to move in me and through me to accomplish those things. That is where I serve Him: in my reasoning processes as I reason things out in life.

Philippians 4:6 ~ God’s Will for Every Believer in Every Situation Part 2

Whatever it is we are worried about, commit it to Him. Our thoughts are like a hot potato, it is going to burn you if you hold it long enough. The Lord wants us to cast it upon Him. He’s concerned about us. He is concerned about His people. Not about our soul or whether we are going to go to heaven or have our sins forgiven; but where our minds are at. He is trying to reach us. He is trying to minister to us through the mind. He purposely made us as human beings so that our minds would process thoughts and concepts. He made our minds for Him to use to communicate to us and to change and transform our lives. But if our minds are occupied and busy with something else, He is concerned.

Philippians 4:4-5 ~ God’s Will for Every Believer in Every Situation Part 1

We look to people, we look to circumstance, and we expect things to be our satisfaction.  But the Bible says God created Jesus Christ to be our total satisfaction in our inner person where He dwells. Not only is He is our rock, but He is our shield, and all the armor that we need. Often, with our eyes and with the human senses we see things and we feel things around us that we think we need.  The reality is, we don’t need it if God hasn’t supplied it. “Be continually satisfied in the Lord,” that’s the answer to everything.

Romans 13:11-14 ~ The Principles of the New Life

“Paul is telling believers that they are lazy, lethargic, half asleep and half awake as they live life.  They are not alert to what is going on around them nor what is happening in their life with all of its influences and where it is taking them. He says we are to put on the Lord Jesus Christ and that means His influence. Christ is already there but I can choose to ignore Him and give myself to other influences. I am to choose to put that off and put Him on.”

James 1:13-18 ~ The Explanation of the Philosophy of Faith

For every believer every single circumstance is designed by God. We get frustrated because we set aside certain times for the study of the Word or fellowship or our version of seeking the Lord and then we pursue our own goals and desires. We have our own things we want to do. But the Lord only has one purpose, to develop our relationship with Him.

Hebrews 4:1-10 ~ Entering His Rest

The persuasion of God to persuade us to surrender to Christ, to trust Him with our whole heart. Not dedicate, not commit, surrender. Some refuse to surrender. They will believe, they will go to church, they will believe everything the Bible says but they will not surrender their life to Christ. They won’t enter into His rest.

When you hear His voice, you shouldn’t harden your heart. We should fear lest we have come right up to that point and never entered in. The same thing is happening to us that happened to the children of Israel, we are hearing but how are we responding? Are we of the persuasion? Do we live by faith?

God’s Spirit grieves in us when we choose to go by the way of the human and the flesh and the world instead of the surrender to the Spirit of Christ. When we live according to the flesh, we live as people who cannot perceive.

I’m reminded of what Paul said in the book of Romans about his flesh, do you remember what he said about his flesh? ‘There is no good thing that dwells in me, that is, in my flesh.’ So, really, what is a God of love harming by allowing the physical realm to be touched?

II Timothy 2:1-7

You have to approach life with the discipline of a soldier: take care of whatever you can whenever you can and just leave the rest. But we get ourselves involved, we allow ourselves to be interwoven into the various issues of life and that violates what Jesus told us. ‘Be not anxious for your life. Seek first the kingdom of God.’ You don’t have to get all obsessed with it; the Lord will take care of it.

Joshua Chapter 7 & 8

He’s teaching us to go by His Word, not by what we think or how we feel or even what our judgments are; but to totally rely on what He says in His Word. If you are going to cross over the river Jordan and into Canaan you have to be obedient to God’s Word in order to have the victory. If you are disobedient to God’s Word, you lose the battle. That is very important to understand.

Ecclesiastes 9:13-18 ~ The Application of Wisdom to History

The spirit realm and the physical realm are opposites as far as reality and truth goes. Spiritually there is not a thing Satan can do to the believer, not a thing. That is why he works through the physical realm, in order to appeal to our human senses, and to make us forget the reality of spiritual position in Christ.
