John 14:5-14

“And the disciples did run away when Jesus was crucified.  They were discouraged and they ran.  They didn’t know what to think or what to do.  They were even hiding because they were afraid of persecution.  But then God’s spirit came to them, was poured out upon them and in them, and with boldness and courage and encouragement they brought the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  They knew that whatever they experienced in the physical realm is not dictating what is true in the spiritual.  In fact, most of the time it is just the opposite and Satan gets us to think about and see the physical realm around us and get us discouraged and disheartened and makes it look and feel like the Lord is not with us and the Lord’s will is not being done.  But in reality in the spirit realm something is happening.  Christ is in me.”

This Friday’s Featured Study is from our 2005 series in The Gospel of John.

This passage of Scripture is right in the middle of John’s account of Jesus’ intimate time with his disciples just before His death.  Chapters 13-17 is best understood as one continuous message.  Here in chapter 14 Jesus is attempting to explain why it is necessary for Him to leave them.
