What does "rightly dividing" mean?The literal translation is, "to cut straight." It was mainly used for a farmer who had to cut a straight line when he was plowing. Applied to the Scriptures, it means to handle the Word of God "directly" as the writer intended and not to swerve to the left or to the right.
