Jeremiah Chapters 1 – 5

Jeremiah 4:3-31

Guard your hearts!  Do not allow the cares and the deceitfulness of the riches of this world to come in and take away the effectiveness of the Word. When I hear the Word as it is given and God's Spirit ministers to my heart I have to guard my heart because the enemy is going to come in. Satan is going to attempt to get us occupied with the things of this life to choke out the Word.  If he can get us occupied then the effectiveness of what we have heard, and the direction in which we have been pointed, and the truths that we have learned will be gone. The understanding of it will be gone.

There are not many Christians that understand that.  Just going and sitting and listening is only the beginning.  There is also meditating on it, praying about it, reading it over and over, and fellowshipping with the Lord over it. That is my responsibility to make sure I am doing that and to be on guard.  Important lessons.
