Biblical Christianity is not a religion. When Jesus Christ comes into a person’s life, His Spirit takes over and begins a work. There is a change in the way we think, in the way we talk, in the way we evaluate life. He changes our philosophy. We become a new creation. Because God cares about how we think and what we think. And God cares about what we say.

You will notice as we go through the Proverbs that many of them emphasize what we say with our mouth. Just like James chapter 3 says, "The tongue is just a little member, but it sets your whole course of life on fire." With your mouth, you are setting a direction for your life. It is either going to be a lot of trouble for you, or it is going to be a lot of help. So humanly, we try to watch what we say.

But in reality, it is the Spirit of Christ within me that wants to speak through me, that wants to impress His thoughts upon my mind. And that is why we study the Bible. It is to get God’s word into the mind so that God’s Spirit can take that and minister those truths to us. Then what we think and how we view life is all influenced by the ministry of the word of God.
